- Ti definisci un “ricercatore di fantasia”. Puoi dirci in che modo un fantasy researcher trasforma l’ordinario in straordinario?
D: Rompendo le regole di rappresentazione, seguendo l’istinto che col passar del tempo si tende a controllarlo. Per diventare Fantasy Researcher ho disimparato tutto ciò che avevo assorbito nella mia vita per imparare ad apprezzare la realtà rompendo gli schemi che ci impone la società.
- Viviamo in un’epoca in cui valorizzare la semplicità è fondamentale. Nella tua dimensione, qual è il segreto che ti permette di guardare oggetti comuni e cibo da una prospettiva artistica?
D: Imparare a saper osservare e non guardare! Ogni oggetto nasconde uno studio. Spesso mi domando perché la mela si chiama così e non in un altro modo. Ogni singola cosa è stata ben definita infatti siamo sempre pronti ad esclamare “Ma come fai?” Quando vediamo qualcuno che fa una cosa nuova e siamo “curiosi” di capire dove c’è il trucchetto proprio come l’illusionista. Quello che faccio è osservare un oggetto come se fosse la prima volta, collocarlo in uno spazio bianco e immaginare cosa può diventare.
- Spesso, con la tua arte, racconti anche dei fatti di cronaca ed a differenza dell’arte “comune” che si basa molto sull’interpretazione di chi la osserva, la tua pare molto più diretta. Credi che esprimere la propria opinione attraverso un’opera possa essere il modo più chiaro per comunicare un pensiero?
D: In questo ultimi anni ho abbandonato questo aspetto perché oggi l’opinione non conta più anzi, più si cerca di esprimerla e più si crea confusione perché non ci informiamo, diventiamo dei profeti medievali. Quello che faccio è semplicemente una cosa istintiva. Anzi non esprimo un’opinione ma un’emozione: c’è chi la capisce, altri invece no. Tuttavia, a me sinceramente non interessa esprimere ciò che penso ma solo quello che vedo.
- La satira è a volte presente nei tuoi lavori, ma quale obiettivo ti poni in primis quando pubblichi un’illustrazione? C’è un messaggio che vorresti far passare più di altri?
D: Attenzione, 2 illustrazioni su 4892 realizzate sono legate alla politica. Quindi quello che rappresento non è legato ad essa, bensì a denunciare la società. Ci impongono realtà e personaggi finti, ci informano solo su cosa vogliono far sapere. Chi decide se una notizia è più importante di un’altra? Perché nei telegiornali si parla di calcio e gossip e danno pochissimo spazio all’arte in generale? Quello che rappresento è un invito a vedere le cose da più punti di vista, anche se allo stesso momento vorrei regalare sorrisi alle persone quando osservano le mie illustrazioni.
- Hai collaborato con molti brand internazionali. Ti aspettavi che le tue illustrazioni potessero influenzare anche il mondo della moda? Ti vedi ancora protagonista in questo ambiente?
D: Non mi sarei mai aspettato che le illustrazioni potessero influenzare il marketing in generale. Dopo due capsule maschili con un brand spagnolo, ho collaborato e rifiutato collaborazioni con brand mondiali di moda ma sempre cercando di realizzare qualcosa che andasse controtendenza. Sto per iniziare un progetto con un brand di moda e non vedo l’ora! Quindi sono ancora in questo ambiente.
- L’indubbia originalità che contraddistingue la tua ricerca potrebbe collocare le opere in una dimensione non ancora esplorata. Se dovessi fondare un movimento artistico, come lo chiameresti?
D: Il Visualismo.
